EVER DREAMT OF BECOMING A CRICKETER?

Ever Dreamt Of Becoming a Cricketer?

India is one of the superpowers when it comes to the game of cricket. I was born and raised in India. So like any other Indian kid the first ambition of mine was to become a cricketer.

In a country where cricket is a 'religion', it wasn't a big deal.

But what exactly trigger us to dream this was, first and foremost the playtime after the school time. Friends nearby my home would be assembled in the ground and the next couple of hours is perhaps the best thing of that day.

Secondly, what makes us dream cricket was, our then superstars, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly a.k.a Dada and a few more. We expressed our love for them by copying their style of playing, gestures and even designing our bats like theirs.

Among them "MRF" was more popular on our bats as Sachin Tendulkar had in his bat.

I'm sure that every Indian kid have done that in the field!

Surprisingly, the dreams on cricket we see at night depends upon the performance we did in the field.

Hitting a few sixes in a row or becoming highest wicket taker in the game made the dreams more delighted like playing for India, meeting our heroes, winning Worldcups and so on. But still there was a big problem. If I won a 'man of the match' trophy, how would I manage to speak to the commentators in English?

The so called cricket 'season', mainly the world cup and IPL time are the most vibrant.

Fan fight on our favourite IPL teams is the best thing in that period.

Watching the match till the end, which lasts till midnight and reading its report on the next day's newspaper always gave a thrill.

Unfortunately, now the whole world is under the threat of a pandemic and I was just recalling my childhood cricket memories.

How hilarious and innocent they were.

These memories gives you a chance to be that child again, who got lost in the process of growing up to be that adult, who is too busy shouldering responsibilities and literally operating at a steady pace.

Let's celebrate the child in us!
